The candidate will learn the theory and skills necessary for paddling close to shore in a calm lake environment. The course includes: demonstrated assisted rescue techniques, basic equipment care and knowledge, and basic forward and turning skill development.
The skills and knowledge gained at this level form the foundation necessary for future paddling at higher levels and/or within more challenging conditions. Rescue techniques at this level are demonstrated with the option for participant involvement.
Our goal is to provide the candidate with a safe and rewarding introduction to canoeing. The aim is to have fun.
